Students have to do research and study the material before coming to class. This requires a high level of commitment of time outside of class every day for preparation. Activities consist of individual and group presentations. Students are expected to come prepared having thoroughly researched the subject matter in multiple sources in order to deliver a compelling presentation to the class. Assignments include nightly reading and translating of Arabic texts, research submission, and daily journal work.
Activities that take place outside of class consist of volunteering trips and program planning and execution. Programs include khutbahs, halaqas, lectures, classes, youth/MSA/sisters’ events, and seminars. Students will be expected to initially observe the Instructor prepare and deliver the above-stated programs, and later the students will be given assignments in order to directly participate in the process.
